2018 Buick Grand National: The Revival of a Legend

There have been rumors about the production of 2018 Buick Grand National, focusing on the company trying to revive the long gone legendary ride. Not only they are planning to do something different for the Grand National, they will also revive the GNX sedan. It is still a rumor and prediction, but a lot of people have been talking about it like crazy.

If everything goes as planned, the new 2018 Buick Grand National will be available in two major trims: the two door coupe and the four door sedan. Buick is going to build the new rides on the Alpha platform (from GM), which has been used in the Chevy Camar0 2016 design, Caddy CTS 2014, or ATS sedan. This step has been taken by the company to boost sales, considering that they are still using the old platform of Epsilon II with the front engine arrangement.

For the exterior refreshment, the new design will be better and more impressive. The Alpha platform is using the rear wheel arrangement, so there will be something new for the Grand National styling. But Buick reassures that they will still be using the signature style of the Grand National with a slight touch of modernity.

There hasn’t been any enough information for the interior cabin but you can be sure that comfort, functionality, and style will be improved as well. Premium materials and better layout will improve.

The new 2018 Buick Grand National will likely come in three different options, inspired by the Cadillac ATS design. First of all, there will be four cylinder inline turbocharged 2.0 liter engine that is delivering 272 hp of power. The second one is the V6 naturally aspirated engine with 3.6 liter capacity that is producing 321 hp of power. For the last option, it is only offered for the highest trim of GNX sedan with the V6 twin turbo 3.6 liter that is delivering more than 400 hp of power. For the transmission, there are also three different options with automatic and manual six speed transmission and also automatic eight speed Hydra Matic gearbox.

Price and Release Date

Although there hasn’t been any official confirmation about the release date, it is predicted that the availability will start from the late 2017 and then followed by the sedan GNX. The price for 2018 Buick Grand National is predicted to start from around $29,000 with the highest GNX trim reaching $43,000.
