2018 Dodge Journey: Some of the Production Changes

Some of the plans for the upcoming 2018 Dodge Journey have to be delayed or changed because of the different mechanism and scheme happening on the way. The updates may be postponed but they aren’t stopping – better schemes are developed for the better execution.

FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) is the parent company of Dodge that has been planning on the transformation of the midsize crossover, the new 2018 Dodge Journey. Originally, Journey will be built with the shared engineering and platform of Chrysler 200 sedan. Unfortunately, the 200 will stop production after the 2017 release, so Journey will be sharing platform with Alfa Romeo division from Fiat, the Giorgio.

The problem is, the Giorgio platform is the all wheel driving system with the base of rear wheel driving technology. If it is executed, it will be a big switch from the original Journey’s platform, which is the front wheel driving system. The platform of Giorgio has been used for the Charger sedan, Durango crossover, and Challenger coupe so it would be exciting to see the outcome for the Journey. For the Journey itself, it is expected that the new 2018 Dodge Journey will be smaller than Dodge Durango but it should be able to accommodate five passengers to seven passengers just comfortably.

There will be some key points of the changes of the 2018 model. Besides the exterior changes – rumor has it that the new 2018 Dodge Journey will be coming with highlighted refreshment – the engine will also be altered and tweaked. Some of the factors are expected, like the clean and stylish look, the third row seats, and affordable pricing, but you should be prepared for the upcoming changes as well.

Exterior Design

When compared to the 2011 model, the new Journey won’t be too much different. You can still expect the lower and aggressive fascia, the crosshair grille, and also the wheel flared arches. Since it will be the smaller crossover, it should have a lower roofline – especially when compared to Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V. Other changes that will take place on the exterior side? You should wait for the further update and development.

Interior Cabin

Besides the improved comfort and luxury, you can also expect greater usability and accessibility inside the cabin. To maximize usage and space, there will be storage areas on the floor placed on the second row to keep your small items. There will be another hidden storage compartment on the front passenger area for other small items. The third row offers extra seats but it would be too cramped for adults.

The previous powertrain arrangements will likely remain the same. With the four cylinder 2.4 liter engine that is producing 173 hp of power, paired with auto 4 speed transmission, it should be responsive and powerful enough. For more power, you can expect the V6 Pentastar engine with 3.6 liter capacity, producing 283 hp of power, paired with auto 6 speed transmission. Sounds like a good promise from 2018 Dodge Journey?
