2018 Kia Sorento: Not So Many Changes

Although it has been confirmed that there are going to be changes for the new 2018 Kia Sorento, the changes won’t be too many. The obvious changes will be happening on the price as well as the paint colors. After all, Kia has probably thought that they have just fully redesigned the 2016 model. Not to mention that they have added some of the advanced technologies for the 2017 model. So, what improvements left to expect? After everything that has been done on the previous years, the company may have drained of ideas and creative skills. Moreover, they have made a solid schedule and plan for the 2019 model with some refreshed styling. So, it is quite understandable if they have been running out of ideas.

The History in the Making

Sorento has been one of the longest production of Kia, first introduced to the public in 2003. When it was first introduced, the vehicle was a midsize small SUV able to accommodate five people. The original Sorento comes with body on construction and truck type design. Changes happened in 2011, where the crossover had taken a unibody structure, sharing the same platform and components with the Santa Fee from Hyundai.

Originally made as a five seater vehicle, the new one is able to accommodate seven people with better performance and smoother driving experience. Naturally, you can expect more developments and improvements for the upcoming 2018 Kia Sorento but it seems that all their best efforts have been done in the 2016 and 2017 models.

For the new 2018 Kia Sorento, the ride will be running with four cylinder engine with 2.4 liter capacity, delivering 185 hp of power. There is also the four cylinder turbocharged engine with 2.0 liter capacity that is delivering 240 hp of power. And there is V6 engine with 3.3 liter capacity that is delivering 290 hp of power. All of these powertrains will be paired with the auto six speed transmission, which will be turned to auto eight speed transmission for the 2019 model.

Some of the changes may include more features for the interior cabin, although there is nothing grandeur to be expected from the line. Price will be definitely higher, around $300 higher than the 2017 models, give or take. But Sorento has been promising all these years, so you should expect the similar great performance for the new 2018 Kia Sorento
