The concept design for the new 2018 Mazda RX7 has been available and it is definitely a piece of art. It is funny on how the company manage their development plan which results in the production and discontinuation of the ride. And now, they are planning on revising the vehicle again, coming with the unique engine specification and arrangement. So, what can you expect from this new line, anyway?
Updates and History
The reason why Mazda had discontinued their RX8 in 2012 was because they were the only one using Wankel engine for the line. And since such the internal combustion type has major issues with bad emission, high oil consumption, and also the Apex seal, they had to let it go. But it seems that they are planning to revive the line again with the production of the new 2018 Mazda RX7. The RX7 itself has been a reliable two seats and two door sporty ride with impressive design and boost of power.
Does It Exist?
With the release of 2018 Mazda RX7 image concept, people started wondering whether the ride is real or not. But after Mazda made an official confirmation that they are probably going to have the production coming up, everything seems to be confirmed. The concept will be the basic platform of the design but in the real implementation, the RX7 will be constructed based on the MX5’s modular platform. If you think that the concept image has been longer, well…you haven’t seen the real thing. If everything goes as planned, the new RX7 should be taller, wider, and longer – retaining the sporty look.
Price and Release Date
Since Mazda is going to compete with Supra, Z5, and Cayman, Mazda will have to keep the price range low – at least in between $40,000 and $50,000. For the release date, hopefully, it will be available around the middle of 2018.
One of the major factor that is designed to boost sales point is the rotary Wankel engine, of course with better arrangement. The engine will be more powerful, more efficient, and go along the emission regulation. Rumor has it that Mazda may release the hybrid type but the company dismissed such an issue.
It is likely that the new RX7 will be coming with twin rotor turbocharged petrol engine with 1.6 liter capacity that is delivering 400 hp of power. With manual six speed gearbox and rear wheel driving system, the new 2018 Mazda RX7 should be smooth and promising.
