Rumor about 2018 Mustang GT500 is getting apparent, considering that the powerful muscle car has been in the testing mode. They are very careful about the whole arrangement because they are going to deal with Camaro ZL1 from Chevy as their main competitor. And when a lot of people misunderstood Ford GT350 prototype as the GT500, confusion had made it complicated. And when it turned out to be GT350, the idea of GT500 seemed to be out of reach and it seemed that Ford had dropped the idea.  But now Ford has decided that the GT500 should be made and they are ready for it.

2018 GT500 and Its Importance

For Ford, having the new 2018 Mustang GT500 is important, considering that Camaro Chevy has beaten them many times in terms of speed and performance. There are a lot examples to show. The V6 Camaro, for instance, is able to deliver 335 hp of power when compared to Mustang with its 300 hp. The V8 Camaro SS has 455 hp, compared to Mustang GT with its 435 hp. And it is about time that Ford is getting sick and tired of all those losing ground – and they make the GT500 to be more powerful than the Camaro.

Platform

It seems that the new 2018 Mustang GT500 will be based on the Shelby GT350, with a twist and addition. During the test drive, the car is using a heavy camo that is hiding the new front appearance, along with the V8 twin turbocharged engine. But from a detailed inspection, it seems that there are zippered panels right above the grille section, unique fascia, diagonal spars that are separating the air inlet, and also corral shape with an upside down arrangement.

Engine

Although there is no exact confirmation about the power arrangement, it is highly likely that the GT500 will be coming with a V8 twin turbocharged engine. The question is, which kind of V8 will the company use? The V8 Coyote 5.0 liter engine seems like a good option, and so is the Voodoo 5.2 liter engine. Both of them have high and reliable compression ratio for forced induction. But in order to comply with the EcoBoost brand, Ford needs to figure out whether the port injection system should be switched to the direct fuel injection type. The price for the 2018 Mustang GT500 seems to be around $65,000.
