2018 Subaru WRX STI: The Slight Updates

There has been some updated news about the Subaru WRX so the same thing will also happen to 2018 Subaru WRX STI. Both of the lines have been available in the auto market since 2014 so they are pretty new. But the company has decided that they will do some refreshing jobs to increase the appeal of the ride. So, what to expect from the new line, after all?

The Expected Improvements

The reason why Subaru has been doing the redesigning work is because their competitor, Ford, has been doing a refreshed work for their new Focus RS. It seems that the Focus RS has been coming closer to the WRX’s territory, pushing Subaru to their limits and best efforts.

There has been unclear news about the changes happening to their 2018 Subaru WRX STI line. Yes, they will do some changes for the WRX but official announcements have yet to be made. Rumor has it that the ride will be keeping its flat four cylinder engine with 2.5 liter capacity that is able to produce 305 hp of power. But to compensate for the lack of power, they will be coming with more tweaks on some of the areas of the ride. Moreover, it seems that the company feels that balance, control, and performance are better than the power.

If the plan is true, the 2018 Subaru WRX STI will come with rear and also front suspensions that are designed to boost comfort and stability. Not to mention that they will also change the electric power steering as well as the gearbox. What’s appealing the most is the Performance package that will include better brake pads, Recaro seats, and also reduced weight, thanks to the removal of the moonroof.

The major updates happening to the STI is about the all wheel driving system. The previous one used the electronic and mechanical control that is responsible for the center differential. Now, everything is taken over by the electronics, which is said to deliver smoother and also quicker outcome. Just like the standard WRX, the STI will be getting Brembo new brakes with two rear piston caliper and six front piston caliper. They will be coming in bright yellow hue and will be placed behind the 19 inch wheels.  The price differences are pretty big, with the standard WRX sold at around $27,500 while the 2018 Subaru WRX STI is sold at around $36,100.
